Whats happening?: A comic convention in Tampere
Mood: Satisfied
On the last weekend of March (28th–29th), I traveled to Tampere to experience a full weekend of a comic convention, Tampere Kuplii 2026.
I'm not very fond of the journey I have to take to Tampere from my home city, as multiple train switches are required. But it was something I had to endure, especially when this con was going to be way more special than the former Tampere Kupliis I've been to... A friend from the United Kingdom had flown all the way to Finland to see us and experience the event!
SATURDAY
I arrived in Tampere around noon, with my friends retrieving me at the station.
We made our way to the Artist Alley building (which was located in a different building from the main event) and slowly perused the multiple seller stalls, taking breaks in between so we could cool down and some could have a smoke.
Having seen everything the Artist Alley had to offer, we returned to the park surrounding the main con building for a furry meetup my friends wanted to attend.
We wanted to go to the main building's Dealers' Den after the meetup, but a long line that almost wrapped around the whole building had formed. For now, we had to cross that off the list.
Since we had no further plans at the con area, we decided to go have dinner at Pancho Villa (knowers know!) before heading back to Celery's house for the night.
The journey back was, simply put, a mess. We missed our bus stop for the store my friends wanted to stop by, and I was dying from exhaustion, but we still made it back.
SUNDAY
Having to sleep in an unfamiliar home, I woke up way earlier than the others, at around 5 am. I was tired, but nothing I did made me fall back asleep.
Thankfully, I wasn't alone during these silent hours of the night, as someone had noticed my presence: my friend's clingy cat, who then proceeded to harass me in search of attention, licking my face and pushing its face on me, then clawing at my blanket when I hid under it.
The morning came surprisingly quickly; everyone in the house was awake by 11 am, and we were on the move by 12.
Before we got back to the con area, we first stopped at a craft store I insisted on visiting. We grabbed some breakfast to go, and in no time we were back at the artist alley, ready for a quick round two.
Sunday was a great day; there were no lines today, so we were finally able to enter the dealer's den. One of the vendors I bought from was wearing a Dog Fashion Disco shirt, it was so cool...
All the shopping made hours run by quickly, and before i knew it, The speakers were announcing the building's imminent closure.
At this point, I had lost my friends in the crowd, but I had no worries; I just stepped out to watch a K-pop dance circle and wait for my friends to find me.
The day concluded with a great dinner at Hesburger and a little fooling around before I returned back to the train station. Goodbye, friends! I had a lot of fun!
Here's everything i bought/got during the weekend, includes gifts our friend brought from the UK and also my craft store purchases..
