rambling...
Alright! It's time to talk about my own feelings, opinions, and how I found out about Bicycle Boy.
If it wasn't obvious, this comic means SO MUCH to me. It's my #1 favorite comic at the moment, and I don't think it's going to be dethroned in my lifetime. I'm so invested in it; the writing is wonderful, especially the writing done to develop the wonderfully unique characters.
The art in the comic is amazing too; it's been in the oven for over a decade, so you can see Jackarais' art evolving with every page turn.
Every read just makes the comic better for me. I've got 3 rereads under my belt already!
I first found out about the comic through Flight Rising, a dragon breeding/trading game. It was the 22nd day of December 2022.
There are banner ads on each side of the pages. I had my adblocker disabled, so all I saw were blank spots saying how I should disable my adblocker, as it supports the site.
Sure, whatever. I'm not going to be disturbed by mere banner ads; they're just going to be oddly targeted stuff I can choose to ignore anyways.
Instead of those targeted spying ads, I was greeted by webcomic ads. What a surprise; I thought the internet was supposed to be boring!
For the first time in my life, I started willingly clicking the ads I got. I was enjoying the activity of looking through the personal webpages of the comics, seeing what kind of cast they got, what the creator is like, etc.
After some time of doing this (and getting tired of it), an ad for the webcomic "Bicycle Boy" caught my eye (it was like fate!). I was bored anyways, so I decided to do another round of my webcomic site explorations. This time I got actually interested in what I was seeing. The cast page had a character with a gas mask (Bridget!). How cool! I'm a big fan of gas masks, and now my interest was piqued; I actually wanted to know what happens in this story. I could read for a bit; it's not like I couldn't just click off if I get bored.
Hours went by, and I didn't click off until I hit the latest page that was put out. I need to wait for more pages?!!! I need more!!!
I ended up rereading the webcomic again a few days after to make myself feel better about the whole waiting thing.
One of my greatest dreams is to own the physical first volume that was released through a Kickstarter. It had sadly ended by the time I arrived. I hope I get another chance one day.
FUN FACT: This page has Macabre Plaza as the background music because I listened to Macabre Plaza on loop while reading the comic for the first time, and now I have to listen to Macabre Plaza every time I read the comic because I feel like I'm not getting the full experience without it.
Fun
